Fashion convert

As I have said before, I have an eclectic choice of activities and ideas so hang on and get ready for this one.

One thing I am taking a strong liking to recently is Hijab inspired fashion. I believe personally that the world has become openly and overly sexualized. You can see all that is meant for your mate on someone walking down the street on a regular basis. There are no more secrets it seems.

Hijab is given the meaning of modesty, privacy, and morality (and is also used to refer to the actual headdress often- I'm talking about just the fashion). I have held these beliefs for a while. The cherry on the top came when I stubbled upon www.hijabiestyle.com. This site shows so many options I just can't wait to start trying some. I LOVE this site as well as the modesty it promotes. While I do not see myself converting religions (or wearing the Khimar as that is a sacred item that I wouldn't dare to cheapen by immitating. Respect comes before fashion at all times) I do hope to see more young ladies convert their wardrobes to reflect the elegance and modesty shown here.

I know I plan to.  I am posting/linking some of my favorite styles from hijabiestyle.com below. These are not my designs and all credit goes to the author of the site.

new adventures

As the old saying goes, This chopped board joins with the poke under the concluded fountain...confused? Me too, but that's how life can be sometimes. I have noticed that there are certain situations that teach me lessons that I don't value until later in life. I'm sure one day that quote will mean something to me....then again maybe it's just gibberish. Have a great weekend all!

Oh no! Say it aint so!

It seems like the word "economy" is on every one's lips these days...so much so its getting annoying. As a business person myself and being married to a Financial Planner, it gets really annoying to hear people blame things completely unrelated to the economy. How the heck is the current weather because of the economic climate...seriously? I'm no expert, my husband is but I'm not going to drum up a conversation on the economy (although I will rant  :0) let alone point fingers on who is to blame. WE ALL are to blame. We voted for our representatives and WE allowed for it to come to this. People remember two things please:

1. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. (Prov. 17:28 KJV)

2. When you point a finger at others there are always 3 fingers pointing right back at you.

That's all.

Its a new dawn, an new day, a new life and I'm feeling...better.

So update-a month shy of a year later- Although I received a great amount of positive feed back from portfolio night, there were no offers and no monumental changes brought on from presenting my work. But it was not discouraging. I enjoyed myself. I was able to be around people with the same amount of ambition if not more. I would definitely go again and look forward what is ahead.

So what am I up to? Glad you asked. I am still working for the same company as before but have been able to open a few more doors for myself by doing some uncommon tasks. I volunteered my time to help some other departments although extra pay was not involved. Took on some extra tasks without much more than a thank you and now I am in line to accept a new position. In the words of the wise wise Ms. Frizzle of the childhood show "The Magic School Bus", "Its time to take chances, make mistakes and get messy!".

I will continue to make things to go into my portfolio and while it may or may not lead to a design position it is something I enjoy doing in my spare time.

^_^
